Prospective members must live in the general vicinity of Denton, Texas, and agree to support and participate in the work of DBL. DBL does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, religion, or national origin, and reaches out to women of all ages who are committed to volunteerism. Upon acceptance of an application by the Membership Chair, the application is reviewed by the Board for a decision. All new active and associate members receive a personal orientation.

Types of Membership
There are two categories of membership available for new applicants. Active, voting members are those who fulfill requirements for active status including serving volunteer hours and attending meetings. Associate members are those who are unable to attend meetings due to professional reasons or other extenuating circumstances. Associate members serve volunteer hours but lack voting privileges. Active and Associate members pay dues and have a ball financial obligation.
A prospective active member must attend one regular meeting as a guest before application for membership can be made. A prospective associate member must receive a membership orientation before applying for membership. All names for membership shall be presented in writing to the Membership Chair by an active member in good standing for one year.
